What are Doctors?

A Doctor is good at all medical skills. They’re able to aid their team members by recovering their HP or by using frogs to improve attack and defense. They are very important in a party, for they are the main class for healing and supporting others.

Doctor skills use either syringes and/or frogs to cast. Be careful when using frogs, because they are expensive to buy at beginner levels. Doctors have a couple just two offensive skills and are primarily supportive of their teammates.

Doctors use Syringes and Robes. Syringes are single handed weapons with very weak physical attack, good magical attack and also improve max MP. Robes offer low physical defense, but very good magical defense.

Advantages of being a Doctor

  • Heal HP – Doctors are the primary class for healing the HP of other players and are the only class who can resurrect dead players.
  • Buffs – Doctors have a variety of status enhancements that can increase a multitude of attributes in themselves as well as others.
  • Work well with other Magic Classes – Because of their high magical attack, you can sub a class such as Wizard or Shaman and deal a significant amount of damage.
  • Easier to get a party – Since Doctors are the main support class, it tends to be easier to find a party because support skills are always in high demand.

Disadvantages of being a Doctor

  • Not combat-oriented – Doctors do not have great Physical Defense, Physical Attack or evasion and thus tend to initially be more dependent upon a party.
  • Party is dependant on you – If you die or run out of MP, the party loses it's primary means of support.

Builds

Doctors rely mostly on Wisdom for their magical attack power and the amount of HP they can heal. Agility is also a common stat for Doctors to have to decrease spell cooldowns and nominally increase dodge rate. Dexterity provides a nominal boost to magical accuracy and is most often taken only in the case that one needs to attack something physically.

  • 3 Wis (pure) – Best Magic Attack and MP Pool. Fair Physical Attack. Low accuracy, evasion and cool downs. This also provides the best heals.
  • 2 Wis/1 Agi – This is another common build for Doctors, it gives you enough Wis to keep up with healing, and also the Agi you need to increase your dodge rate and decrease spell cooldowns.
  • 2 Agi/1 Wis – This build isn’t all that common, but has been seen before on players that like to PvP.
  • 1 Wis/1 Dex/1 Agi - Fair Magic Attack, MP Pool, accuracy, evasion and cool downs. Low Physical Attack. Soloist Build.

Party Build

In order to work effectively in a party, you will need all HP recovery spells like First Aid, Regeneration, and Frogs’ Leg Soup. You will also need Prolong Life and Frog Forcefield. Born Again is also a necessary skill to have because it can resurrect dead teammates. If you have any skill points left over after this, get other defensive buffs such as Yin Frog, etc. Inner Magic is also a useful skill to use because it regens your MP for you, and as a Doctor it is important that you don’t run out.

Solo/PvP Build

Pet muse buffs are handy to have subbed along with a pet. Mega Medicine is a must if you want to use a doctor in PvP, because it makes your teammates invincible to attack for a short period of time. Soup of Self Preservation is also a handy skill to have for both PvP and Solo. Health Heist and Heavy Health Heist are also useful skills to have – they do damage as well as drain HP and heal your own. Another useful skill to use in PvP is Purify, because it can remove all buffs of the person you target, weakening them.

Sub-Skills

Equip Shield: As a doctor's evade will never come near that of the rogue or martial artist, a shield provides an easy way to add much needed defense at the expense of a minor evasion reduction. Additionally, for doctor's that wear robes, the extra defense can be a critical boost to a low defense total.

Equip Light Armor: Provides a good defense with little to no side-effects. The additional attack bonus also gives a handy boost to doctor's who choose to use the Martyr, Sneak Attack and/or Close Combat Lines.

Equip Heavy Amor: Since the doctor is not typically a front line combatant, the attack speed reduction caused by heavy armor is trivial compared to it's defensive bonus. On the downside, doctor's who use offensive magic may find the magic attack reduction a little costly.

Equip Wand: A literal must have for any doctor who wishes to employ offensive spells through Nature Magic or Scrollcasting.

Pet Sounds: A must have for anyone that employs a pet regardless of class. For doctors, a pet provides a much needed boost to combat power, be it offensively or for tanking.

Spellcasting: Provides an excellent selection of spells that compliment the doctor's own abilities without requiring any additional equipment. The additional MP regeneration of Cataclysmic Converter also adds a nice compliment to Inner Magic for those who find their own MP quickly depleted or too low to cast the former. The additional combat spells give the doctor an extra edge in a fight and the debuff of Chant of Liberation is a must have for a quick escape.

Nature Magic: With or without the AOE versions, the nature magic spells give a much desirable offensive boost to the usually supportive doctor. The need of Equip Wand is a trivial expense for the soloist or for the party doc who wants to be more than support.

Seasonal Magic: Provides an excellent set of spells to compliment the doctor's abilities without requiring any additional equipment. The boon of Spring Cleaning can easily suppliment or replace the need for Inner Magic and Heavy Frost provides a handy way to escape should the going get too tough.

Scrollcasting: The first choice of doctor's who wish to deal damage. Though this requires obtaining scrolls and the Shaman's Equip Wand skill, the ability to deal both single target and AOE damage as well as support party members make the scrollcasting doctor a valuable asset. On the downside, scrollcasting along with party buffing can deplete MP very quickly (otherwise read as: Sits Often).

Quests

Job Qualification Test

In order to qualify for doctor just go to the drugstore and talk to Dr. Tybalt. He will tell you that he is very worried about one of his patients Sonya. Life Quests

Level 20:

When you are level 20 or higher, go talk to Howard Hughes in Eversun City (215, 131). He requests that you help his sick mother and get him some medicine, which requires a Vitamin B pill and a Root Ginger (which you can collect from grade 2 farming).

Now, go to Swan Lake at night (6PM-6AM in game time) and find a monster called the Fiendish Florence. It can be found at (460, 216) in the Medicines Memorial. Kill it to get the Ancient Florence Fungus (if it doesn’t drop, wait for it to respawn and kill it again, it does’t take long).

Take the items back to Howard in Eversun City to finish the quest.

Level 30:

When you are level 30 or higher, go to Charleston Manor in Blakatoa and talk to Lord Charleston (149, 418). In order to heal his family, you need to collect some items from monsters.

doctor01.png

Go to Grassgreen Square and kill Deadly Daisy and Blighted Blue Butterfly until you get 1 Deadly Daisy Dust and 1 Blue Poison Powder.

doctor02.png

Take the items back to Lord Charleston to finish the quest.

Level 40:

When you are level 40 or higher, go and talk to Dr. Thibalt the Drug Store of Eversun City to get the invitation to start the quest. Go talk to O’Shea in Collington (482, 460) to trigger the movie. After this you have to fight the elemental Rat Bosses (it’s the same for all level 40 life quests) in the following order:

  • Giant Metal Rat - Copperhorn Mountain (270, 362)
  • Giant Wood Rat - Placid Plain (361, 398)
  • Giant Water Rat - Swan Lake Basin (318, 297)
  • Giant Fire Rat - Blakatoa (348, 572)
  • Giant Earth Rat - Grassgreen Square (232, 420)

Try taking a team with other people that also have to kill these rats - they're tougher than they look. After killing all the rats in the proper order, go back to O’Shea to finish the quest.
