Beginner town
You being the game as a commoner. A commoner is a job with no special fighting skill. You will be able to get several skills from several jobs once you have become level 10 and have performed qualifications for each job. It should be your goal to level your character by gaining experience by fighting monsters and by performing quests. You should aim to leave the beginner town and get to the main world.
Moving
You move by pressing keys on your keyboard or by clicking with the mouse.
The default behaviour is to move forward by pressing W. Side to side with A and D and backward with S. You can use NUMLOCK on your keyboard to move automatically (works with flying later on in the game).
W=move forward A=move left S=move backwards D=move right
You can also use your mouse to click and your character will just run there. Also if open up your map and click on a location your character will just go there. As an example say your in Eversun City, and you want to go to the drugstore but your at the entrance to Eversun South? No problem just click the drugstore and off you go!
You can optionally click the arrow keys to move and while flying clicking num lock will make you automatically go forward all you have to do is steer!
You can also move by click on the mini-map (or the enlarged mini-map) for where you want to go. but it's recommended that you only use this to go to an area and not anywhere specific.
Changing how you control your character
By pressing Ctrl+N or by selecting the Menu button
and selecting Options you can change how you move (you can use the arrow keys instead of WASD) and how the camera is set to view.
Fighting
To fight a monster, click on it. Your character will fight the monster until it has died. As you fight you increase your experience. You can use any skills you have learnt while fighting a monster by pressing the function keys F1-F10 once you eventually get skills from other jobs.
Skills and the skill bar
You can see a list of skills that you have by pressing Ctrl+X or by selecting the Menu button
and selecting Skills. You can drag any skills that you learn (once you change to jobs and learn skills) by dragging them to your Hot-key Bar.
You can place skills, items and other various things into the hot-key bars from F1-F10. There are 10 hot-key bars to use. To switch between them, use the up and down arrows next to the number. To change the shape/size of the hot-key bars, use the button at the bottom right hand corner. Right-Click the "x" on the top right to simplify the hot-key images
By pressing Ctrl+H or by selecting the Menu button
and selecting Emotes you can also assign emotes to a hot-key slot by dragging them from the emote window to your hot-key bar.
Resting and death
Your player status is always shown in the top left part of the screen. The red bar indicates your HP and if this bar is depleted then you will have died and will have to resurrect in town again.
Shows player's HP, MP, experience and current level.
The three circular icons show your current luck in three different areas:
Fighting Chance: Influences dropped items.
Provider's Providence: Influences the success of alchemy and weapon upgrades.
Luck In Love: Influences fated relationships.
To avoid dying, you should often rest or use items to replenish your HP bar. To rest use the emote kneel. Drag the emote kneel to your Hot-key Bar slot (any of them) as you will be using this a lot.
Items dropped from killing monsters
Monsters have a chance to drop ITEMS when you have killed them. You can pick these items up by clicking on them or by using the emote take item. Drag the emote take item to your Hot-key Bar slot (any of them) as you will be using this a lot. You will be able to automatically pick up items when you are in a team that has the option for it enabled once you leave beginner town.
To see your items, press Ctrl+D or press the Menu button
and select inventory. See also What items should I sell.
Leaving the Beginner town
You should talk to the NPCS in order to do quests. Once you have completed these quests you will be allowed to leave beginner town and go to the real world and interact with other players and fight better monsters.
