What are Musicians?

A Musician plays songs that can increase MP recovery, attack power, accuracy, and evasion of team members, as well as strengthening and healing pets. They also have the ability to cast party buffs that reflect enemy damage.

Musicians have the ability to cast spells that strengthen your team mates or attack enemies using a Musical Instrument. When playing music to support your team, you cannot move, and monsters may be driven to attack you when they hear the music. This makes a Musician’s buffing skills more suitable for large parties.

A Musician also has the ability to use skills that strengthen and heal pets. At advanced levels, they can even resurrect pets on their own. These skills can be used without having to equip a Musical Instrument.

Musicians also have the skills that allow you to equip Musical Instruments on other jobs without a penalty. The damage of a Musicians attack skills mainly comes from magical attack power but their single-enemy attack can also be boosted through physical attack power.

Musicians can equip Dancewear and Musical Instruments. Musical Instruments are two-handed weapons with very low physical attack, but their magical attack is strong, and they can improve evasion and magical evasion. Dancewear has poor physical defense but half-decent magical defense. However, because Musicians are most often support, the lower defense may not be a hindrance.

Advantages of being a Musician

  • MP recovery skills – Whereas Doctors specialize in HP recovery, Musicians do MP recovery, which is very important when in a large team.
  • Lots of buffs – Musicians have many party strengthening buffs.
  • Pet Skills – Musicians can buff and heal pets and are the only class who can resurrect them.
  • Works well with other magic classes – Since they use Wisdom as their main stat, using a sub such as Shaman or Wizard works quite well.
  • Powerful Attacks – Although they only have two attack skills, these skills can do a very high amount of damage.
  • Useful Subclassing - If you prefer to solo, pet sound has the potiential as the best sub in the game to accelerate you and your pet's leveling speed. If you prefer to party, Musical Magic can always land you a support job in almost any form of party.

Disadvantages of being a Musician

  • Aggro – While casting the party buffs, you are unable to move. The skills can attract aggro from the enemies surrounding you, which leaves you very vulnerable to attack.
  • Buff Durations – Although the party buffs are very helpful, they don’t last very long and need to be constantly recast.
  • Party Reliance – Party musicians can’t solo. Like support doctors, because you’re constantly supporting your team, you rarely do damage against the enemy and rely on your team mates for experience.

Builds

A Musician mainly relies on Wisdom, Dexterity, and Agility. These three stats can raise a musician’s attack power. Agility, next to wisdom, is the most important stat, because you are unable to move while casting your spells, thus increasing your survival.

  • 2 Agi/1 Wis: Good Evasion, Good cool downs, Good Physical Attack, Fair Magic Attack, low accuracy.
  • 2 Wis/1 Agi: Good Magic Attack, Fair evasion, Fair cool downs, Fair Physical Attack, low accuracy.
  • 2 Agi/1 Dex: Good Physical Attack, Good evasion, Good cool downs, Fair accuracy, low Magic Attack, low MP
  • 1 Agi/1 Wis/1 Dex: Fair Physical Attack, evasion, cool downs, Magic Attack and MP. Soloist build.
  • Pure Wis: Best Magic Attack and MP pool. Low evasion, physical attack and accuracy.
  • Pure Agi: Good Physical Attack, evasion and cool downs. Low Magic Attack, MP and accuracy.
  • 28 Dex-->103 Agi-->rest Wis - A long-term build with very similar effect as 2 Agi: 1 Wis build. Alternative build for solo pet muse, skill damage is not as significant as 3 Wis build, but in return has much better evasion and noticeable shorter cast time. 28 Dex makes up muse's naturally low normal attack accuarcy, which max the benefit gain from buffs of sonic wipe. Good build if you wish to add extra damage while minimize damage to pet, but rip you the option to become a wand muse.

Party Build

You will need all of the Musical Magic skills. Most importantly Mystical Mantra, Transfusion Tune, and Echo Guard. The other skills are important as well but these should be at the top of your list.

Pet Build

You will need all of the Pet Tunes. If you want to get Resurrect Pet, be sure to get the Heal HP skill. It’s also useful to have Mystic Mantra and Transfusion Tune from Musical Magic in case you run out of MP.

Quests

Job Qualification

When you are level 10 or higher in any job, go talk to Hannah the Dancer in Placid Plains (294, 241). She’ll ask you to take an item to Ali the Craftsman in Placid Plains (167, 480) to get it fixed. Talk to Ali, and he’ll tell you he needs 1 Down and 1 Vine Rope. Collect the items and take them back to him. He’ll take 100 gold as payment. After giving him the items wait 1 minute before talking to him again. After 1 minute, talk to him and he’ll give you back the item you need to give to Hannah the Dancer. Give it to her to finish the quest.

Life Quests

Level 20:

Talk to Wolfgang stationed in Eversun South (628, 351). He’ll then direct you to Mr. Clothear in Eversun City (145, 79). He’ll ask you to talk to the Pasturizer in Eversun North for help. Talk to the Pasturizer (102, 531), and you will have to collect 3 Cypress Wood and 3 Liquid Rubber for him, which you can get from the Tree Hole Kuku and Oak Hole Kuku near the Farrel Family Crypt. Take the items back to him along with Mr. Clothears letter. Take the Glue Trap he gives you back to Mr. Clothear in Eversun City.

Once you talk to him you will have to fight a boss (level 25 Musician). The fight is fairly easy.

After you have won the fight, take the Grey Fur back to Wolfgang in Eversun South to finish the quest.

Level 30:

When you’re level 30 or higher, go talk to Mr. Clothear again in Eversun City to start the quest. He’ll ask you to go find Wolfgang in Grassgreen Square, but before you do so buy a grade 1 Fishing Rod, Foresty Axe, and Herding Fodder from the NPC in front of Jobseekers.

Now, talk to the Shaded Spot in Grassgreen Square at (468, 498) to continue the quest.

muse02.png

You’ll have to fight a group of bosses this time around, but it’s very easy, don’t let their numbers intimidate you (6 level 30 Musicians).

muse03.png

Lulu the rat will ask you to collect some items from various maps; this is where you will need the collection tools you bought earlier. They are at the following locations:

muse04.png Grassgreen Square (192, 117)

muse05.png Giantwood Forest (294, 77)

muse06.png Placid Plain (480, 363)

Now, go to Pandora’s Grotto and look for Lulu. From the entrance of the Grotto, go straight until you’re forced to turn left, and go left. From there go straight then make another left turn. After turning left, you’ll find yourself in a large open area. Take the corridor on the far left side. Go up the stairs and you’ll find Lulu next to the portal.

Talk to Lulu, and engage yourself into a fight with a gang of Demonslayer NPCs. Don’t worry, it’s very easy. You’ll have Lulu’s sidekicks helping you.

muse07.png

Once you’ve won, return to Grassgreen Square where you encountered Lulu before to finish the quest.

Level 40:

When you are level 40 or higher, go talk to Busker Biff in Placid Plains (293, 240) to get the invitation to start the quest. Go talk to O’Shea in Collington (482, 460) to trigger the movie. After this you have to fight the elemental Rat Bosses (it’s the same for all level 40 life quests) in the following order:

  • Giant Metal Rat - Copperhorn Mountain (270, 362)
  • Giant Wood Rat - Placid Plain (361, 398)
  • Giant Water Rat - Swan Lake Basin (318, 297)
  • Giant Fire Rat - Blakatoa (348, 572)
  • Giant Earth Rat - Grassgreen Square (232, 420)

Try taking a team with other people that also have to kill these rats - they're tougher than they look. After killing all the rats in the proper order, go back to O’Shea to finish the quest.
